Friday, the Zieg family & I went out to shoot a very special session. Well, they’re all special, but this was different. I first met Mom, Patty, three years ago when she became my baby-girl’s 2nd grade teacher at her new school. It was already going to be a transition changing schools, but Mrs. Zieg is such an amazing person and educator, she made it easy. With her sure & fun way, she brought out the confidence and silliness in our little one. We are blessed to have her again as our son’s teacher. Throughout the last three years, she has become a part of our family. That is why, when we discussed her son’s future, I knew what needed to be done.
Casey, the Zieg’s youngest, has decided to enlist as a soldier in the US Army. He shipped out to boot-camp only days after our session. I know in my heart that this would have been my hardest hour, and I confronted them as it was theirs. I’m sure that it is a fine line between being a proud parent & a scared one. But, none of that matters if your child is following their dream. As hard as it would be, you have to celebrate that. These are some of the last moments the Zieg family will share together for a long time. Imagine the transition for all, from living at home to boot-camp across the nation.
Here are a few of my favorites…
